The Globe was a famous theatre that held most of Shakespeare's performances and plays. At first it was located in

It has been said that the outside shape of the dome theatre is more of a hexagonal type of shape.

Interior:

 

Measurements:

  • Galleries – 9.9m high
  • Stage – 13.1m wide, 8.2 m deep and 1.5m off the ground
  • Circumference of theatre – 91.45m
  • Open roof – 30.5m in diameter. Spanned 14.02 m.

History:

  • The Globe theatre was originally built in the year of 1599.
  • It faced a disaster when during a performance of Henry the VIII, a cannon set fire to the roof and burnt the theatre down. It was during 1613.
  • It was rebuilt the following year in 1614.
  • Soon enough after Shakespeare’s death, the Puritans shut down the theatre since they were in power during the year of 1642.
